When looking at the summer release schedule this year there aren't a whole lot of major live-action comedies coming our way. This could make it easy for BAYWATCH to cash in on the summer crowd looking for big, R-rated laughs. Said adult-themed laughs are on full display in the new red band trailer, featuring tons of f-bombs, testicle jokes, and a severed foot. Just a normal day in the life for the folks of Baywatch.
Like I said, BAYWATCH has the potential to be one of the surprise hits of the summer for a number of reasons. One is the lack of comedies, which I mentioned above. Another is that R-rated comedies have been hitting big in the summer over the past few years, including HORRIBLE BOSSES, WE’RE THE MILLERS, THE HEAT, etc. Finally Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron couldn’t be bigger right now, both in fame and sheer physical size. Having them in the movie, as well as the several female starlets, will offer something for everyone. It could be funny, it could be the worst, but it will at least be appealing to the eye.
