I'll admit it…I'm a SHARKNADO fan! Unashamed of it, too! I even plopped down my $12.50 to see it in theaters last Friday and can honestly say I had more fun taking that film in with other fans of the cheesy SyFy/The Asylum production than I've had in the theater all year. SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE.
After reviewing more than 5,000 Twitter submissions to its "Name Sharknado 2" social media contest, Syfy announced the title of the eagerly anticipated Sharknado sequel yesterday, with Thomas Vitale, Executive Vice President, Programming and Original Movies for Syfy, stating:
"Since Twitter played such a huge role in the success of the original movie, we wanted to use that platform to ask our fans to name Sharknado 2. This response is another reminder of how Sharknado has become a pop culture phenomenon. We want to thank all our viewers for their wonderful contributions to keeping up the shark-mentum."
So there you have it. SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE, which is said to take place in New York, will be coming at us in 2014.
