The Stylist, starring Najarra Townsend and Brea Grant, gets Sitges premiere

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

With several years of short films to her credit, director Jill Gevargizian has made her feature debut with THE SYLIST, which will be having its international premiere at the Sitges Film Festival in Catalonia, Spain next month. Ahead of the premiere, a handful of first look images have been released online and can be seen below.

Starring genre regulars Najarra Townsend and Brea Grant (director this year's 12 HOUR SHIFT), THE STYLIST is based on a short film that Gevargizian, who also happens to be a hair stylist, and Townsend worked on together in 2016. The feature was written by Gevargizian, Eric Havens, and Eric Stolze, and has the following synopsis:

A lot of people visit Claire's hairdressing chair, and sometimes her scissors cut something more than just hair, allowing her to take a unique souvenir back to her lonely home to add to her peculiar collection. But the day that Olivia, one of her regular customers, asks her to create a special hairstyle for her wedding, her secret lifestyle threatens to be exposed.

In the announcement that THE STYLIST would be premiering at Sitges, the festival runners mentioned that the film

introduces a very special hairdresser. Many people visit her chair and sometimes, her scissors cut something other than hair, allowing her to take home a unique souvenir to add to her exclusive collection.

Townsend and Grant are joined in the cast by Millie Milan.

THE STYLIST sounds interesting to me, especially since it has Townsend and Grant in the lead roles. I look forward to checking it out. Unfortunately, I won't be at the Sitges festival, so I'll have to wait for some distribution news to find out when I'll be able to see the movie.

This year's edition of the Sitges Film Festival is set to take place from October 8th through the 18th. The festival's website says it "will be the meeting point for genre lovers. Both in the Festival's theaters and across the screen, thanks to the Shift72 online content platform, it will be possible to enjoy a daring, top-level line-up."
