The Survivalist: John Malkovich, Jonathan Rhys Meyers lead pandemic thriller

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Production has wrapped on director Jon Keeyes' pandemic thriller The Survivalist, which stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers and the legendary John Malkovich. Keeyes produced the film with Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman of Yale Productions.

Scripted by Matthew Rogers, The Survivalist is set

a year and a half after the fall of civilization from a virus outbreak. A former FBI agent, Ben (Rhys Meyers), is forced to protect a young woman (who is immune to the disease) from a dangerous gang hunting her, led by Aaron (Malkovich), a psychopath who believes he's going to use her to save the world.

Levine and Beckerman released the following statement:

We’re thrilled and honored to be working with screen legends John Malkovich and Jonathan Rhys Meyers on The Survivalist, an exhilarating, timely and action-packed feature film with stellar performances."

Executive producers and financiers on The Survivalist include Roman Kopelevich, Richard Switzer, Ian Niles, Michael Barnett, Rob Dubar, Peter Anske, Lee Broda, Joel Michaely, Greg Ruden, Michael and Jackie Palkowicz, and Bill Green. Red Sea Media is handling foreign distribution sales.

I was sold on this project as soon as I read that Malkovich plays a psychopath gang leader who's out to save the world. That's definitely something I want to see.

We'll keep you updated on The Survivalist as it continues to move forward.
