The Toxic Avenger remake: Taylour Paige joins Peter Dinklage in cast

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Taylour Paige has signed on to play the female lead in writer/director Macon Blair's remake of the Troma classic The Toxic Avenger (watch it HERE),  joining the previously announced Peter Dinklage and Jacob Treblay in the cast.

Described as a "contemporary reimagining" of the original film, this take on The Toxic Avenger is said to be "steeped in environmental themes and subverts the superhero genre in the vein of Deadpool".

The synopsis confirms that the character who becomes Toxie is not going to be the same Melvin Junko we remember from the Troma movie. This guy has friends! He even has a son!

When a struggling everyman is pushed into a vat of toxic waste, he is transformed into a mutant freak who must go from shunned outcast to underdog hero as he races to save his son, his friends and his community from the forces of corruption and greed.

Troma's Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz are producing the film with Legendary Entertainment.

Taylour Paige's previous credits include Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and White Boy Rick. She also plays the title character in A24's upcoming crime comedy Zola.
