Last month my man Jake Dee thrust the international poster for Lars von Trier’s MELANCHOLIA your way (check it out HERE). Said poster displayed Kirsten Dunst in bridal mode, and didn’t hint at the film’s end-of-the-world subplot, surprisingly. Today, Vulture brings us the domestic poster for the apocalyptic drama, and guess what? It’s about 99% the same as the previous poster. I suppose the assumption is that the cast and director will be enough to lure in audiences.
Vulture also has three new still from the flick; check ’em out HERE.
The synopsis: Justine (Kirsten Dunst) and Michael (Alexander Skarsgård) are celebrating their marriage at a sumptuous party in the home of her sister (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and brother-in-law (Kiefer Sutherland). Meanwhile, the planet, Melancholia, is heading towards Earth… MELANCHOLIA is a psychological disaster movie from director Lars von Trier.
MELANCHOLIA will have its US debut at Fantastic Fest next month, followed by a showing at the NY Film Festival in early October. It will be available on Video On Demand beginning on OCTOBER 7th, on its way to a limited theatrical run starting on NOVEMBER 11th.
