The Walking Dead has been renewed for an eighth season

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I don't think any fans have been feeling concerned about The Walking Dead's future. The AMC series is still the most watched show on television, the comic book source material has provided many more stories for the show to pull inspiration from, and the producers have given no indication that they're planning to wrap things up anytime soon.

The Walking Dead is sitting so securely a week before the seventh season is scheduled to make its premiere that AMC has announced that they've given the show an early renewal for an eighth season, which I'm sure will start airing in October of 2017.

The first episode of season eight will likely be a big one – not only will it be starting off a fresh season, but it will also be The Walking Dead's 100th episode.

This weekend's season seven premiere is set to be a big one itself, as it will finally be giving fans the answer to the season six cliffhanger question, "Who did Negan kill?" He had eleven characters to choose from. The episode airs this Sunday, October 23rd, at 9pm EST, and will be followed by a 90 minute episode of its talk show companion series The Talking Dead, where host Chris Hardwick will be speaking with all eleven of the actors who were in Negan's line-up.

The Talking Dead has also been renewed and will be returning next year.

The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Michael Cudlitz, Lennie James, Sonequa Martin-Green, Alanna Masterson, Christian Serratos, Josh McDermitt, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Austin Nichols, Xander Berkeley, Austin Amelio, and Tom Payne.
