“The Walking Dead” revelations just keep on coming in. What’s been an especially high profile build-up to the new season’s premiere – what with all the showrunner-firings and talk-show musings – is now likely to heat up even more with the announcement today that AMC will split the new season into two halves, with the second half coming in 2012.
The second season premiere, similar to the first season’s, will be 90 minutes long when it airs on OCTOBER 16th. Incidentally, that’s the same day AMC launches its annual “Fearfest” programming, which treats us to our favorite horror movies plus commercial interruptions and censorship. (You know you watch it, just as I do.)
7 episodes in total will air in the fall, while the remaining 6 will launch on FEBRUARY 12th. For those of you without a calendar available, that means the first half’s “finale” will take place on NOVEMBER 27th.
Obviously, AMC knows it has something good here and wants to spread it around. Plus, the Christmas season is usually a graveyard – pun intended – for new programming. Most shows take a hiatus and air re-runs until well after New Year’s.
In any event, dust yourself off for “The Walking Dead” when it creeps up next month!
