Last year, it was announced that Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) would be starring in a “darkly comedic thriller series” called The Woman in the House for Netflix. That show’s eight half-hour episodes will be available to watch on the Netflix streaming service as of January 28th, and a trailer has arrived online to start building the hype. You can check it out in the embed above – and this trailer also reveals that the title of the show has gotten much longer since it was first announced. It’s now called The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window.

Created by showrunners Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson, and Larry Dorf, The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window centers on

Anna, a heartbroken woman who likes to watch her neighbors and drinks too much. Things take a turn when a hot widower, Neil, and his daughter move in across the street and Anna witnesses a murder in their home…or does she?

Bell is joined in the cast by Tom Riley, Samsara Yett, Cameron Britton, Michael Ealy, Mary Holland, Shelley Hennig, Christina Anthony, and Benjamin Levy Aguilar.

Bell told Entertainment Weekly she knew she had to be involved because the concept of the show was “so outside the box and absurd”. The tone also made her unsure how to play her scenes at first:

This one was particularly challenging because it was, ‘Do I make a joke about this? Or do I play it completely straight, and risk missing the joke?’ Rachel kept me on track. And she basically said, ‘Try to do everything as sincere as possible, but make sure you’re laughing on the inside.'” The end result captures “the best bad acting I’ve ever wanted to accomplish in my career. It was quite fun.”

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window looks like it will also provide a fun viewing experience, so I look forward to checking it out.
