Wrong Turn

Over the post-Halloween weekend it was announced that the twelfth film in the HALLOWEEN franchise, HALLOWEEN KILLS, has finished filming, and director Mike P. Nelson took to Instagram to announce that production has also wrapped on his remake of the 2003 backwoods slasher WRONG TURN. The remake will be the seventh film in the WRONG TURN franchise.

This is the second feature film for Nelson, following last year's post-apocalyptic horror release THE DOMESTICS. He directed WRONG TURN from a screenplay by Alan B. McElroy, who also wrote the original film. This take on the concept stars Charlotte Vega as Jes, one of

six friends from New York taking a hiking trip to the beautiful West Virginia Mountains who unwittingly fall prey to a savage sect known as The Foundation, a community of people who have lived in the mountains since before the Civil War.

Vega's co-stars include Matthew Modine, Bill Sage, Emma Dumont, Valerie Jane Parker, Chaney Morrow, David Hutchison, Damian Maffei, Dylan McTee, Adrian Favela, Adain Bradley, Jeremy Ambler, Cory Scott Allen, Gary Ray Stearns, Rhyan Elizabeth Hanavan, Vardaan Arora, Mark Mench, Joshua Stephen Campbell, Jennie Malone, Brian James Fitzpatrick, and Mark Angel.

Nelson told his Instagram followers that

the last three months have been absolutely insane. I can’t wait to show you all what we have been creating. Movie #2 blessed me yet again with such an amazing crew and a cast that carried the weight of this beast. Long nights in the woods, moldy caverns, moss covered boulders and skulls was our world for the hasty and dense 26 day shoot. This project was also special as it reunited me with my good friend, DP and collaborator Nick Junkersfeld. Over the last 10 years Nick and I have been creating madness in Minnesota and I cannot wait to show you the madness we have created in Ohio with this one. Now onto the edit!

While the original WRONG TURN featured killers called One Eye, Saw Tooth, and Three Finger, it sounds like Deer Skull, Ram Skull, Wild Boar Skull, and Wolf Skull will be the standout threats this time around.

A release date hasn't been announced for the WRONG TURN remake, but we'll let you know when we hear what the distribution plans are.
