The X-Files reboot, which premiered as the tenth season of the popular sci-fi show on Fox this January, was a major success for the network. There's no question that they want to bring it back around for round 11. Although we have no official confirmation of the show returning, they are in "significant talks" with creator Chris Carter and stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to get it done.

Says Fox TV Group chairman Dana Walden, who admits they wanted to do more than the 6 episodes of the reboot:

We would have liked to do more in the first place, but there were limitations. Gillian lives in the U.K. David in New York and Los Angeles. The show shoots in Vancouver. So it’s about coordinating a time when they can carve time to be in Vancouver.

We’re in conversations where we can do more. I don’t see a full season of episodes, but I’d be happy to get 10 or 8 episodes.

Seeing how 8 to 10 episodes is quickly becoming a typical run for a special series like this (the much-lauded Stranger Things only ran for 8), I don't think you'd find many fans complaining if that's all they get. If anything develops with these talks, you'll hear it here!

The X-Files season 10 also starred Joel McHale, Bruce Harwood, Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Rhys Darby, and Kumail Nanjiani.
