There is a God!

FINALLY! After what seems like an eternity (and relentless import debates), Paramount has given the green light for a Special Edition DVD for EVENT HORIZON. Oh yes, rejoice my horror brothers and sisters. We have been given justice.

For those of you who walked in late, here’s the scoop: A while back, we reported that Paramount was going to release the long-awaited SE DVD for the film, except that it was for Region 2 fans, leaving North Americans in a frenzy and once again asking for the heads of Paramount executives. Director Paul Anderson had been claiming for years that he was trying to get Paramount to give the film a proper DVD, and this was it (for Europe, anyway).

Now, DVDActive reports today that the street date for the R1 DVD is set for April 18th, and will set you back $19.99. Basically the same as the R2 release, the film gets a brand new anamorphic widescreen transfer and English Dolby Digital 5.1 track, along with a five-part making of documentary, deleted and extended scenes, concept art, behind the scenes featurettes, and plenty more. No artwork yet, but you can be sure that we’ll be on this like a hobo on a cheese sandwich.

I still think this poster kicks more ass than the North American version.
