There is No Escape in this trailer starring Pierce Brosnan and Owen Wilson

Before I had kids, movies with harm coming to children and families struck me but not nearly the same way as it did after having my own. Movies like THE IMPOSSIBLE and CHILDREN OF MEN hit me in the gut as a father and have stuck with me ever since. NO ESCAPE looks like it may pack that same punch. Starring Owen Wilson, Lake Bell, and Pierce Brosnan, this is a movie that could have easily ended up as a direct to Redbox flick but instead looks pretty intense.

Directed by John Erick Dowdle, best known for QUARANTINE, DEVIL, and last year’s AS ABOVE, SO BELOW, NO ESCAPE plays on our xenophobic fears of what could happen to any of us when we leave the safety of the United States.

An intense international thriller, NO ESCAPE centers on an American businessman (Wilson) as he and his family settle into their new home in Southeast Asia. Suddenly finding themselves in the middle of a violent political uprising, they must frantically look for a safe escape as rebels mercilessly attack the city.

While I am sure Brosnan’s role is a small one, it is nice to see him outside of the James Bond typecasting. Owen Wilson also looks to be turning in a solid performance in a non-comedic role, something he has been missing for quite some time. Overall, this looks like a movie worth seeking out. Hopefully it lives up to the bar set by this thrilling trailer.

NO ESCAPE hits theaters on September 2, 2015.
