There’s no warning or escape but there’s time for love on this poster for W.S. Anderson’s Pompeii

I did say that I wanted to give POMPEII a chance. I did. I stand by that statement. However, the first poster for the film makes me feel like it needs a power ballad. I don’t care which band sings it. Okay, I’d prefer a group from the early 80s or 90s. Maybe Air Supply. I feel like there’s a real hit song here. I’d write the lyrics but you’d only make fun of how terrible they are though that’s the point.

The poster isn’t bad but the circumstance is laughable within the context. It’s overly dramatic. While I would love to see something more historically grounded, that’s not what I expect. But I’m hoping that the action and visuals rival what we see on this poster. The trailers have certainly given us that. There’s a lot of if’s here, aren’t there?
