I’m trying really hard not to get excited about JERUZALEM, because found footage movies are the cinematic equivalent of online dating profiles. They lure you in with sweet looking images, then reveal that everything you believed about them was a lie.

This new clip from Entertainment Weekly leaves me flummoxed. It looks like the film could either be a cheap retread, injecting a well-worn zombie type story into what could have been a creative story. Or it could be a fresh new feature with exciting monster designs. My brain is leaning toward the former, but my heart is leaning toward the latter. Check it out for yourself right here.

In JERUZALEM:

Two American girls on vacation follow a mysterious and handsome anthropology student on a trip to Jerusalem. The party is cut short when the trio are caught in the middle of a biblical apocalypse. Trapped between the ancient walls of the holy city, the three travelers must survive long enough to find a way out as the fury of hell is unleashed upon them.

JERUZALEM, starring Yael Grobglas, Yon Tumarkin, Tom Graziani, and Danielle Jadelyn, will hit selected theaters and VOD on January 22nd, 2016.
