Anyone else notice the insane amount of genre TV shows coming our way? It seems we’re writing about television news just as much as we’re tapping the movie goods. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for it, but the only problem is the genre rarely works on the small screen.
One series I’m hoping delivers is the Oren Peli-produced “The River,” which will be dropping on ABC. We’ve been keeping you updated on this little diddy since we first heard about it, with the last update coming earlier this week.
Well here I am on this early Friday morning with more “River” casting news for you guys to sink your fangs into. According to Variety veteran actor Thomas Kretschmann is the latest name to join the project. He’ll be playing ‘Reese.’
“THE RIVER” centers on Tess, a world traveler and top-notch producer who, six months after her TV explorer husband Emmet Cole goes missing in the Amazon, receives a signal from his beacon. Convinced that Emmet is alive, Tess forces her reluctant son Lincoln to abandon his medical studies and lead a rescue expedition.
Kretschmann (above) joins the already cast Leslie Hope (below), Joe Anderson, Bruce Greenwood, Paul Blackthorne and Eloise Mumford. Jaume Collet-Serra will be helming the pilot episode. Now that’s all we’ve got for now regarding “The River” but I’m sure more news will be floating our way soon so be sure to check back for that!
