Throwback tiny terrors film Ghastlies coming to DVD/Blu in November

Ghastlies Brett Kelly

A year and a half ago, we caught word that prolific Canadian filmmaker Brett Kelly had made a movie called GHASTLIES, a throwback to the tiny terrors films of the 1980s like GREMLINS, CRITTERS, GHOULIES, and MUNCHIES. We've been waiting a while for this one, but we don't have much longer to wait – distributor Camp Motion Pictures has scheduled GHASTLIES for a November 11 release in a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack and on HD Digital.

Written by Chris Bavota, GHASTLIES tells the following story:

Three sorority sisters plan an initiation for their nerdy friend during a weekend getaway. Things don’t go exactly as planned when they accidentally stumble upon a craft containing a trio of extraterrestrial ghastly ghouls! Armed with only their boyfriends and brains, they resolve to send these pint-sized gatecrashers back to the edge of the universe — or die trying.

That sounds like '80s homage perfection to me. The film stars Kim Valentine, Jessica Huether, Julie Mainville, Eric Deniverville, and Joel Elliot.

Special features on the DVD/Blu will include

– Audio commentary by director Brett Kelly and actor Trevor Payer

– “Going Ghastlies” FX featurette

– “Tomb Talks Tubular Toonage” music featurette

– “They’re Ghastlies” music video

GHASTLIES is a must see as far as I'm concerned, and if you feel the same way about it you can now pre-order a copy of the DVD/Blu combo pack on Amazon.
