Are you folks ready for this? I’m sure you guys remember the onslaught of articles the came with the months prior to THE DARK KNIGHT’s release, right? It felt like we were seeing half a dozen DARK KNIGHT articles a day! Well I think it’s a pretty safe bet that Christopher Nolan’s third ‘Batman’ film THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will follow along similar lines.
With that being said let’s talk about a minor DARK KNIGHT RISES update that floats our way today courtesy of Batman-News.com! You see apparently actor Tom Hardy, who will be playing ‘Bane’ in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, recently had a chance to chat with Alan Carr on “The Chatty Man Show.” I’m sure from now until next Summer every interview Hardy is in will involve some DARK KNIGHT RISES talk, and “The Chatty Man Show” is no different. When asked about portraying the villain ‘Bane’ in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, and if Hardy will be wearing a mask ala BATMAN & ROBIN’s portrayl of the character, Hardy responded:
“Well, only if I feel like it. No. Again Chris Nolan will revisit that territory entirely. I wouldn’t go by that at all. Plus, that’s a lot of weight to put on and I’ve gotta start shooting in May so I’m gonna go pack up to about 13 – 14 stone [198 lbs]. I’m 12 [168 lbs] and a bit now so I’ve got 3 months to do that.”
Now obviously he didn’t get to much into the character, or the film for that matter, and don’t expect him to anytime soon. To check out the interview for yourself just scroll on down below and enjoy. Along with Hardy THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is also set to star Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Anne Hathaway as ‘Catwoman.’
From that comment alone you can see Nolan’s take on ‘Bane’ is going to be a lot different then our usual perception of the character, but that’s A-Ok in my book! At this point Nolan can dress ‘Bane’ up in suspenders and a tu-tu and I’d be there opening day. What says you guys? How’s this ‘Bane’ sounding to you?
