Tom Holland admits that he’s never watched The Empire Strikes Back

Tom Holland Spider-Man: Homecoming The Empire Strikes Back Captain America: Civil War

With the incredible amount of classic movies out there, it's pretty much a given that most of us have a good handful that we haven't seen; even so, there are still times when we're shocked to learn that someone hasn't seen a particular movie, such as THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. After Spidey mentioned watching that "really old movie" during the airport battle in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, Yahoo! Movies followed up by asking Tom Holland what the actor really thought of the classic STAR WARS film.

With a slight reluctance, Tom Holland admitted that he's never seen THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK before explaining that he's not really a huge fan of the franchise. However, it seems that he was a fan of the new ones, saying that he thought STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY were "dope" and "great fun." Holland isn't exactly sure why he skipped the original trilogy and was quite embarrassed at having done so, after which the SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING actor dug an even deeper hole by revealing that he was even "more embarrassed to say that I loved [the prequel trilogy] when I was a kid." Ruh oh. Holland told Yahoo's Kevin Polowy that he would attempt to fill that EMPIRE STRIKES BACK-sized hole before they next met, but confessed that he's far too busy to watch any movies right now.

As our lives grow increasingly chaotic, it often becomes difficult to carve out enough time to catch up on all the movies we've missed, especially the classic ones, so I can certainly sympathize with Holland there. I've been making an effort to fill some of the gaps in my own film-watching history in recent years, but there are still so many left unseen. Which classic movie(s) are you embarassed to admit that you've never seen? I'll get us started. I've never seen CASABLANCA.

Tom Holland will next be seen in THE LOST CITY OF Z on April 14th and in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING on July 7, 2017.
