Wow, I almost got choked up there for a minute.
Tom Savini, easily one of the most influential and pioneering makeup and F/X man in the entire film biz, much less the horror genre, is the subject of a new documentary called SMOKE AND MIRRORS. We’ve got the trailer for the film below, which highlights some of the more sentimental aspects of the man’s career.
In a quick snapshot, we’re able to hear some of the motivating factors behind Savini getting into the biz in the first place. We also hear from makeup and F/X greats Greg Nicotero, Howard Berger, director George A. Romero, Tom’s daughter Lia and many more. It’s really cool to see someone as important as Savini get some love via a retrospective chronicle. I really can’t wait to see this one!
SMOKE AND MIRRORS has no release date yet. It’s directed by Jason Baker. Big ups to Igor’s Lab for the drop!
Since this is the first time hearing of SMOKE AND MIRRORS, you can bet we’ll giving you updates on the film in the months to come. Until then, enjoy the trailer!
