One of the most popular of the killer puppets in Full Moon's PUPPET MASTER franchise is the flame-throwing Torch, who is also one of the most sparingly used of the bunch. He made his first appearance in 1990's PUPPET MASTER II, with his second and last appearance coming in 1994's PUPPET MASTER 5.
It's been more than twenty years since we saw Torch in action in a PUPPET MASTER film, but Full Moon head Charles Band has announced that the puppet will soon be making his triumphant return in PUPPET MASTER: AXIS TERMINATION.
The 11th film in the series (the 12th if you count the SciFi-produced PUPPET MASTER VS. DEMONIC TOYS), AXIS TERMINATION is the final chapter in a World War II-set trilogy that began with PUPPET MASTER: AXIS OF EVIL in 2010 and continued with PUPPET MASTER X: AXIS RISING in 2012.
As excited as fans are that they'll be seeing Torch on their screens again, the fact that he'll be in a movie set during World War II also causes some confusion: it was previously believed that Torch wasn't created until the events of PUPPET MASTER II in the early 1990s. The PUPPET MASTER films have always taken a rather relaxed approach to their continuity, but Band has assured fans, "We're definitely aware of the continuity here."
Regardless of how much sense it will or won't make to have Torch in this new movie, I'll just be glad to see the little guy again.
