Well, here's another Netflix premiere that I need to add to my queue. The streaming service has released a trailer for director Adam Randall's sci-fi crime thriller iBOY, and it looks like it has the potential to be quite entertaining.

Based on a novel by Kevin Brooks, the film tells the following story:

Tom is an average teenager whose world is turned on its head when a violent encounter with local thugs leaves fragments of his shattered smartphone embedded in his brain. He wakes from a coma to discover that returning to normal teenage life is impossible because he has developed a strange set of superpowers. With these new powers he sets out to seek revenge on the gang, who also assaulted his best friend Lucy.

The concept is absurd, but it looks like Randall has executed it in the best way possible, with a dark tone and great visuals.

Bill Milner and Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams lead the cast as the iBOY himself and his pal Lucy. Their co-stars include Miranda Richardson and Rory Kinnear.

Give the trailer a viewing below, and if you find it as impressive as I do you'll be left wanting to watch iBOY as soon as it hits Netflix on January 27th.
