So, for those of you with wives and girlfriends, I've found the next movie you'll be dragged to, kicking and screaming. It's a little movie called ROMEO AND JULIET starring Hailee Steinfeld, Douglas Booth, Damian Lewis, Paul Giamatti, Stellan Skarsgard, Ed Westwick, Natascha McElhone, and Kodi Smit-McPhee. The latest adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic tale is going for a more classical approach to the material, rather than the contemporary/fantasy setting of Baz Luhrman's 1996 version starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes.

The pic has got a decent cast and looks like a well made affair, but l think the appeal to this, like many tragic young love stories, will fall to the ladies more so than the gents. And, that's totally fine. Unless you're the gent being dragged to it, of course. I'm perfectly content to let the intended demographic enjoy the hell out of this, while I sit safely on the sidelines. It's to note that the screenplay for this comes from Julian Fellowes, the creator of Downton Abbey, so that could potentially draw some appeal for an extended audience.
