Trailer: Five-part Shudder documentary digs into the stories of Cursed Films

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The Shudder streaming service has a very intriguing documentary series coming our way, as the trailer embedded above shows. The series is called Cursed Films, and it has the following synopsis:

Cursed Films is a five-part documentary series which explores the myths and legends behind some of Hollywood’s notoriously “cursed” horror film productions. From plane accidents and bombings during the making of The Omen, to the rumored use of real human skeletons on the set of Poltergeist, these stories are legendary amongst film fans and filmmakers alike. But where does the truth lie? Cursed Films reveals the events that haunted these productions through interviews with experts, witnesses and the cast, directors and producers who lived through the real-life events. Were these films really cursed, as many believe, or just the victims of bad luck and bizarre circumstances?

The five episodes of the series will cover THE EXORCIST, POLTERGEIST, THE OMEN, THE CROW, and TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE. The tragedies that occurred during the production of a couple of those were due to human errors, the curse of bad decisions, but I'm interested to see what this show will say about it all.

The episode focused on THE EXORCIST will premiere on Shudder on Thursday, April 2nd. The POLTERGEIST and THE OMEN episodes will premiere on April 9th, followed by THE CROW and TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE on the 16th.

The POLTERGEIST and THE OMEN episodes will also be screened at the SXSW film festival on March 13th, with writer/director Jay Cheel in attendance.
