Trailer for Bobcat Goldthwait’s God Bless America is so wrong, yet so right

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

For anyone who has watched a reality show and thought, “These obnoxious people should be shot!” For those of us who see someone on their cell phone in the movie theater and muse, “Boy, if I had a gun right now…” For those of us who wish they could take their rage out violently on every unfairly privileged asshole, the trailer for Bobcat Goldthwait’s GOD BLESS AMERICA is here for your enjoyment.

Here’s the set-up, so you can adequately prepare yourself:
Loveless, jobless and possibly terminally ill, Frank (Joel Murray) has had enough of the downward spiral of America. With nothing left to lose, Frank takes his gun and decides to off the stupidest, cruellest and most repellent members of society with an unusual accomplice: 16-year-old Roxy (Tara Lynne Barr), who shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement.

Based on the trailer, it looks like Goldthwait’s movie has the same gleefully sadistic tone as John Waters’ underrated SERIAL MOM, which is just right for a premise that is, let’s face it, rather sociopathic.

GOD BLESS AMERICA hits Video On Demand on APRIL 6th, then heads to theaters on MAY 11th.
