It’s kind of eerie the way that the plot of MACHETE, which revolves heavily around the politics of illegal immigration, has been paralleled with the recent legislation passed in Arizona. This was not lost on Robert Rodriguez who convinced Fox to allow him to release an “illegal” trailer for the film today, which is not so coincidentally Cinco de Mayo. It’s mostly just an R-rated trailer but with an intro at the beginning from Machete himself who dedicates the footage to the people in Arizona.
As for the trailer itself, I have to admit it looks pretty damn awesome. With all due deference to Stallone, this is what THE EXPENDABLES should be like. Whereas that movie may be taking itself a little too seriously, this is just straight-up campy fun. I mean it has ridiculously cheesy dialogue like “We didn’t cross the border, the border crossed us!” and Lindsay Lohan licking a gun in a nun outfit… Check it out below and let me know what you think…
