Trailer: Jackie Chan vs. an immortal enemy in sci-fi thriller Bleeding Steel

Jackie Chan is one actor I really need to dig deeper into the filmography of. While I saw several of his movies during the RUMBLE IN THE BRONX – RUSH HOUR 3 era, I've only seen a couple of his older movies here and there, and haven't seen anything he has made in the last eleven years. I definitely need to go on a Chan viewing spree sometime, and after watching the trailer for his new film BLEEDING STEEL I'm feeling compelled to have those viewings very soon.

Written and directed by Leo Zhang, BLEEDING STEEL is said to be "an action-packed drama reminiscent of '80s techno sci-fi thrillers" and it puts Chan in the role of

Lin, a police inspector in modern Hong Kong. While tracking down a deranged, mecha-enhanced villain, Lin discovers that a geneticist’s lost bio-chemical invention has been surgically implanted into his missing daughter. With the help of a young hacker, Lin connects the dots between the device that haunts his daughter, his enemy’s sinister army, and a strange cultural phenomenon called “Bleeding Steel.”

Chan's co-stars include Show Lo, Nana Ou-yang, Erica Xia-hou, Callan Mulvey, and Tess Haubrich.

Check out the trailer below and see if Chan taking on a mecha-enhanced villain in an '80s throwback is as appealing to you as it is to me. If you're sold on this one, you can look forward to seeing BLEEDING STEEL when Lionsgate Premiere releases it into theatres and on VOD on July 6th.
