Trailer: The Monster Squad documentary Wolfman’s Got Nards coming in October

Director Fred Dekker's THE MONSTER SQUAD (watch it HERE) was a box office disappointment when it was released in 1987, but the amount of money it made in theatres didn't mean anything to the generations of genre fans – including myself – who grew up watching this movie, turning it into a cult classic. Now Gravitas Ventures has announced that they will be giving the MONSTER SQUAD documentary WOLFMAN'S GOT NARDS an On Demand release on October 27th, and ahead of that release a trailer has arrived online. You can check out the trailer in the embed above.

Directed by THE MONSTER SQUAD cast member Andre Gower, WOLFMAN'S GOT NARDS

explores the relationship a dedicated audience (including celebrities and filmmakers) has with The Monster Squad. This documentary takes an in-depth look into the film’s conception, response, cult status, and revival. Through interviews with the cast, crew, screenwriters, directors, academics and original reviewers as well as through never-before-seen footage, it turns the lens on an audience of self-proclaimed misfits who have kept The Monster Squad alive for more than thirty years.

Some of the fans of THE MONSTER SQUAD who were interviewed include filmmakers Adam Green, Joe Lynch, and Jackson Stewart, and The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg. Dekker and his co-writer Shane Black also sat down for interviews.

Gower told Entertainment Weekly that he was inspired to make WOLFMAN'S GOT NARDS because

I was thinking about all of the amazing stories that these fans have told me and our fellow castmates over the last decade of this resurgence. Those stories never ceased, or slowed down, or stopped. They just kept on growing, and getting deeper and more fascinating. I started to realize that there’s something really special there, that this movie had a really deep impact on a lot of people, and it was different from anything else that I could really put my finger on."

The documentary was produced by Pilgrim Media Group and Fitterpiper Entertainment.
