Last month it became apparent that Jim Sheridan’s DREAM HOUSE, starring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts, was in a spot of trouble. First word came down that reshoots would be necessary to, you know, make it suck less, then we learned that its original release date of FEBRUARY 18, 2011 would not be met because the reshoots were delayed… thanks to a girl with a dragon tattoo. DREAM HOUSE was then slapped with the dreaded TBD, leaving it inert and looking like a surprising misfire, considering its pedigree…

Well, the news just got a little better for the flick: it’s been put back on the board. According to Box Office Mojo, Universal has given DREAM HOUSE a check-in date of SEPTEMBER 30, 2011, which basically allows it to kick off the Halloween season (for those of us who celebrate Halloween for 31 days, that is).

There isn’t much competition for the thriller on that date, but a week later the big-budget robot boxing flick REAL STEEL comes along, so DREAM HOUSE better make it count…

DREAM HOUSE follows the story a successful New York publisher (Craig) who moves his wife (Weisz) and children to a New England town, where they buy the home of their dreams. That dream, however, is shattered when they learn that the previous tenants were murdered leading the husband to team with a neighbor (Watts) to learn the truth about the crime.
