Now HBO’s TRUE BLOOD started off with some subtle, yet effective viral marketing and has evolved into a television show with some heavy potential. I’m actually pretty stoked to check it out… but truth be told, if it wasn’t on the same night as ENTOURAGE, I might not go out of my way… here’s hoping it kicks my ass sideways for thinking such a thing!
Well if your looking forward to it, whether as much as me or more, you’ll be pleased to hear HBO will be airing two documentaries tying in with the show. Both will air on September 6 (a day before the premiere). The docs are called TRUE BLOODLINES: A NEW TYPE and TRUE BLOODLINES: VAMPIRE LEGENDS.
A NEW TYPE centers more on the image of vampires today, going in line with the attitude of the show itself. Where vampires are more along the lines of suave badasses instead of the spooky bloodsuckers they used to be. VAMPIRE LEGENDS will dive mostly into the vampire mythology. From older vampire films to all the legends about vampires.
And just in case you haven’t familiarized yourself yet, here’s the synopsis for TRUE BLOOD: Local waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin, below), however, knows how it feels to be an outcast. “Cursed” with the ability to listen in on people’s thoughts, she’s also open-minded about the integration of vampires — particularly when it comes to Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old living up the road. But as Sookie is drawn into a series of mysteries surrounding Bill’s arrival in Bon Temps, that tolerance will be put to the test.
Sounds awesome. Plus it’s HBO and comes from the creator of SIX FEET UNDER… so you know it’s going to be great. So if your interest is peaked, the documentaries air this Saturday with the first episode of the series airing the next day, September 7, at 9 PM.
