“True Blood”, the popular HBO series about a Louisiana town infested with vampires, werewolves, witches, fairies, imps, leprechauns, elves, talking chipmunks and everything in between, is looking to add to its television star power. TV Line has it on good authority that the show is courting former “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” star Christopher Meloni.

Meloni, who will next be seen in Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL, would play an incredibly powerful vampire if cast, but further details aren’t being dished out.

Production on “True Blood” season 5 is underway and will run through late June/early July 2012 – right around the time it should premiere, as it has traditionally aired in the summer.

If Meloni does indeed join Season 5, he’ll join new castmembers Scott Foley, Lucy Griffiths, Dale Dickey, Louis Herthum and Kelly Overton (pictured below).
