“Buddy movies” are always welcome, but mix one up with some sci-fi elements, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for something (potentially) special. Here’s a project that might very well fit that mold.

Paramount Pictures has bought the spec script HYPERDRIVE, a sci-fi/detective thriller hybrid that is being described as MEN IN BLACK meets MIDNIGHT RUN. Could be very cool, that! Story centers on a tough cop who recruits a geeky science-fiiction writer to find a witness to a murder. The studio acquired the spec preemptively on Wednesday night.

The script was penend by co-writer of the wonderful TUCKER & DALE VS EVIL Morgan Jurgenson (pictured right with director TUCKER director Eli Craig) and Alex Ankeles. Mary Parent (ROLE MODELS) will produce through her Disruption Entertainment.
