We first reported on this project back in 2009, but apparently the hamsters are running the wheel again for a TV adaptation of the cult hit HEATHERS, starring Christian Slater and Winona Ryder.  Originally set up at FOX, the show is now moving forward at Bravo, home of such classics as The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Miami, New York and Top Chef.  So, yeah, maybe not the most reputable place to adapt an R-rated dark comedy about murdering your classmates.

From THR: In the updated take, HEATHERS picks up 20 years later, with Veronica (Ryder’s character) returning home to Sherwood with her teenage daughter, who must contend with the next generation of mean girls: the Ashleys: the daughters of the surviving Heathers.

The Big C’s Jenny Bicks and The Man Date’s Mark Rizzo are set to write and executive produce the series.  No word on just how dark or how deep the show will get in terms of the original film’s themes, but I’m pretty sure you can expect it to be a lot “prettier” than the movie.  Although, for a network that shows a large amount of programming with women meeting in social gatherings in their hippest fashions only to insult and beat the shit out of each other, this may well be a perfect fit.

What do you think, folks?  Will you be setting your DVR for this or would you sooner drink drano?
