TWC picks up Mother

The Weinstein Company (and Dimension Films, for that matter) have been cleaning house at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, as it seems like they’re picking up distribution rights to genre flicks for all the coolest movies hitting the TIFF (including Romero’s DIARY OF THE DEAD).

So what flick did they pick up this week? Confirming the news we told you about , announced that Dario Argento’s MOTHER OF TEARS is the lucky winner! That’s right, if you had any doubts you were going to be able to check that out here in North America, you can rest assured… that YES, you WILL! With bizarre and freakish things happening left and right, not to mention the always smokin’ hot Asia Argento…. you know it’s going to be a good time!

No date has been set, other than being alluded to ‘sometime next year’. Hopefully TWC gives this MOTHER the release it deserves, and hopefully… they won’t have to cut it down too much to make the MPAA happy, as I’m sure some edits will be required just for an R rating. Don’t be too grim at the idea, as you know the DVD will have all the goodies slapped back in it for that Unrated Special Edition later down the line. Keep it here for more details on that release date as we hear it!
