We got a press release today regarding some news coming out of Cannes. The Weinstein Company just picked up North American distribution rights to EDEN LAKE.
EDEN LAKE is about a couple weekending at a lakeside beauty spot who are terrorized by a gang of feral kids. Nursery teacher Jenny and her boyfriend Steve, escape for a romantic weekend away. Steve, planning to propose, has found an idyllic setting: a remote lake enclosed by woodlands and seemingly deserted. The couple’s peace is then shattered when a gang of obnoxious kids encircles their campsite.
EDEN LAKE was written and directed by James Watkins. One of Watkins’ key writing credits is actually a flick that’s not even out yet: THE DESCENT 2.
Starring in EDEN LAKE will be Kelly Reilly (below), Michael Fassbender, Thomas Turgoose and Bronson Webb, among others.
Sounds like this one could actually be something interesting. If they get the ‘gang of feral kids’ right, it could actually be pretty damn cool. We’ll keep you updated.
