Two more TV spots for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES have found their way online and continue to rile up the masses with speculation in terms of story details and sequence of events. Personally, I don’t spend a lot of time trying to crack the story for the film like it’s the DaVinci Code or something, but it definitely peaks my curiosity and gets me all riled up for the film.
Take a look:
The stuff with Bruce and a walking cane remind me of Batman Beyond and I can’t help but view Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Terry McGinnis (aka the future Batman). I know this isn’t the case, but that’s what my brain keeps doing everytime I put it together. No matter what, I’m psyched out of my fanboy mind to see how it all plays out, regardless of my expectations.

To further your own speculation, here’s some spoiler-ish quotes from director Christopher Nolan, screenwriter David S. Goyer, and star Christian Bale.
Talking about how he and Nolan envisioned the third film and what it feels like to see it come together, Goyer had this to say:
“The final scene of The Dark Knight Rises is exactly that scene we talked about then,” says Goyer, “It remained completely unchanged. We both knew in our hearts that we were onto something special. I have to tell you, having finally seen everthing strung together a little while ago and seeing that scene, I got a complete lump in my throat.”
Nolan discusses what drew him to the concept altogether:
“What drew me to Batman in the first place was Bruce Wayne’s story, and that he’s a real character whose story begins in childhood. He’s not a fully formed character like James Bond, so what we’re doing is following the journey of this guy from a child who goes through this horrible experience of becoming this extraordinary character. That, for me, became a three-part story. And obviously the third part becomes the ending of the guy’s story.”
And finally, star Christian Bale may have put to rest the speculation that this IS the end for Bruce Wayne/Batman:
“My understanding is that this is the last one. I think it’s appropriate, I think it’s going out at the right time. But…if Chris came to me with a script and said, ‘You know what? There is another story’ then I would love the challenge of making a fourth one work.”
Hmmm…that BATMAN BEYOND movie may well be closer than I think…
