Now come one come all to this sacred affair. Wipe off all your makeup, there's love in the air. So throw on the black dress, mix in with the lot. You might look up and notice umbrellas alot. If you look down the street and see everyone squee. You can find out first hand what it's like to believe. In love beyond measure and stars that collide. I'd encourage your smiles I'll expect you'll all cry … for when UMBRELLA ACADEMY super-fans Nick "Ducky" Vojtek and Katharine "Kat" Nitschke say "I do" at a Netflix-sponsored wedding in New York City.

Let's cap off Friday's news with a feel-good piece, shall we? Last Friday, two mega-fans of Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba's Umbrella Academy comic book got married in Times Square with a little help from Netflix. Okay, so maybe it was a lot of help – on account of the umbrella-clad Black Parade and elaborate set dressings and whatnot.

When Nick "Ducky" Vojtek and Katharine "Kat" Nitschke first met, the duo discovered that they both shared an affinity for comic books, with Way and Ba's Umbrella Academy being among their absolute favs. As their love began to blossom, and wedding bells were primed to chime, Netflix reached out to the couple and offered to throw them an UMBRELLA ACADEMY-themed wedding celebration.

And so, on the eve of Netflix's UMBRELLA ACADEMY premiere, the couple's friends, family, and a marching band's worth of on-lookers gathered round to escort the pair through Bryant Park, to where a marriage ceremony beneath a 60-foot umbrella awaited them. After exchanging a set of heartfelt vows, the couple celebrated with their first dance, which was promptly followed by dessert at a pop-up Griddy's Doughnut shop. As far as themed weddings go, I'd say that "Ducky" and "Kat" – in all of their gothy glory – have raised the bar pretty high for their fellow geeks.

To check out the couple's wedding photos, be sure to head over to their official MySpace page.

I myself was married inside a local comic shop, Heroes London in Ontario, Canada to be exact. We followed our private ceremony up with an even bigger party over the Summer, thereby carving our names into the Nerd Wedding Hall of Fame. It's a real thing. I've checked. Okay, so maybe it's not, but it should be, dammit.

Congratulations to to the happy couple from all of us here at JoBlo, and don't forget, you can check out Netflix's UMBRELLA ACADEMY right now on the premiere streamer. The bizarre, dysfunctional family-centric superhero show focuses on a disbanded group of heroes who reunite after their adoptive father, who trained them to save the world, dies. Ellen Page, Mary J. Blige, Tom Hopper, Cameron Britton, Robert Sheehan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Adam Godley, Aidan Gallagher, David Castañeda, John Magaro, Ashley Madekwe and Colm Feore all star in what I think is a fantastic representation of Way and Ba's beloved indie series. Go watch it right now so we can get a second season.
