Well we know there’s another UNDERWORLD flick in the works right? Actually word has it there’s an entire UNDERWORLD trilogy heading our way to couple with the trilogy already released… but what’s going on with it? The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog scored word today that Screen Gems and Lakeshore have just tapped a writer to pen UNDERWORLD 4!
That man is John Hlavin of TV’s THE SHIELD fame. Hlavin will be penning the script for producers Len Wiseman, Gary Lucchesi, Tom Rosenberg and Richard Wright. There’s no director attached yet as well as no cast, though rumors are floating around out there that this new franchise may center on Kate Beckinsale’s ‘Selene.’ Unfortunately there’s nothing solid behind that one so right now we’re left without a hottie for UNDERWORLD 4 but we do know Hlavin is writing that sucker!
The writer even spilled a bit about what UNDERWORLD 4 might be about: “…but I can tell you it’s not a prequel. It will satisfy old fans and excite new audiences, meaning that we don’t want to redo the first three movies, so steps are being taken to honor what fans have loved but at the same time introduce fresh elements.” Hmm… Does that sound good? What do you guys think? Are we looking forward to another UNDERWORLD flick or are you done with the franchise? Truth be told I have never really been interested in the UNDERWORLD flicks but I’ll keep an eye on this one and give it a chance… especially if Beckinsale (below) signs on!
