Underworld might still become a TV show according to Len Wiseman

Two years ago it was revealed that we weren’t going to be safe from UNDERWORLD no matter which way we turned. A new movie was in development (which, of course, has now been completed), spin-offs were being contemplated and, yes, a TV show was in the early planning stages. In the time since, the news on the latter two has cooled, leaving us with only UNDERWORLD 5 to look forward to. But don’t count these vamps out just yet.

In a recent interview with Collider, mastermind of the series Len Wiseman was asked about the status of the TV series. His reply was fairly predictable:

Yes, there’s been a lot of conversations and even development on what that series would be. It’s really appropriate for television, in terms of how those characters can really tie in, but also become something new. It’s really an attractive space. I don’t want to put a date on it because then that’s going to be printed and it might not happen in that timeframe, but it is a thought.

It’s easy to be skeptical of this thing, but who knows? Maybe UNDERWORLD is better suited for the small screen, at least at this juncture. But just how much more of this world can we explore? How much more do we want to explore?

There’s also this to consider: it’s very likely (in my mind, anyway) that Kate Beckinsale would not be a part of this series; she’s still seen as a movie star, plus she and Wiseman recently split. For many, Selene is more often than not the most compelling reason to watch an UNDERWORLD movie. If she’s absent, would there be an audience for Underworld: The Series?
