Underworld franchise to expand with new films, tv show; Beckinsale to return

Over the summer we learned that the UNDERWORLD franchise was set to grace the silver screen yet again, this time with Screen Gems working to bring us UNDERWORLD: NEXT GENERATION, said to potentially focus on Selene (Kate Beckinsale) and Michael Corvin’s (Scott Speedman) hybrid daughter, Eve. But that's not the only thing in the works concerning the UNDERWORLD franchise as IGN recently caught up with director Len Wiseman who shared that the UNDERWORLD universe could be expanding even further.

Shared Wiseman…

“There’s a few things being developed right now. There are some characters who we really liked that will be in a kind of a spin-off like we did with ‘Rise of the Lycans,’ then we have another film in the works with Kate [Beckinsale] as well, and then there’s a television series. So we’re expanding that universe in many ways. They’re all in development. There’s a lot of releases out there that aren’t actually true; it would take too long to wrap up.”

So we could potentially see two new UNDERWORLD films as well as a television series coming our way. Equally as cool, we'll all be able to oogle at Kate Beckinsale in that skin-tight leather outfit once again! I'm down for that!

Some may say that this move is just a way to milk the franchise, and while that may very well be true, this series seems to have a lot of fans who are always up for another go-around with some vamp/lycan action. I'm sure we'll be hearing much more very soon.
