Unhinged trailer starring Russell Crowe! To be released solely in theaters!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

So a question that I assume has been on a lot of moviegoers' minds is: "what is the first movie to open in theaters after all this?" Because we all saw the success of digital releases for THE HUNT, TROLLS WORLD TOUR, and others – as well as all the pushed-back (and tentative) release dates for major films – that it seemed impossible to even begin to guess.

Well, guess no more, as a movie has just stepped up to the plate. And that movie is Solstice Studios' psychological thriller UNHINGED, starring Russell Crowe, which according to the studio, "will be the first new film to open in America's movie theaters in accordance with state public health department safety guidelines on July 1."

Here's the official synopsis:

Academy Award winner Russell Crowe stars in Unhinged, a timely psychological thriller that explores the fragile balance of a society pushed to the edge, taking something we've all experienced- road rage – to an unpredictable and terrifying conclusion. Rachel (Caren Pistorius) is running late to work when she has an altercation at a traffic light with a stranger (Crowe) whose life has left him feeling powerless and invisible. Soon, Rachel finds herself and everyone she loves the target of a man who decides to make one last mark upon the world by teaching her a series of deadly lessons. What follows is a dangerous game of cat and mouse that proves you never know just how close you are to someone who is about to become unhinged.

Meanwhile, the film itself will be released only in theaters July 1st.

So what do you guys think? Down for a psychotic Russell Crowe? And if so, worth it to watch in theaters (assuming they're even open by then)? Either way, sound off below!
