Because yesterday was St. Patty’s Day, it’s no surprise that Universal Pictures announced it was getting ripped–though, more accurately, they’re getting R.I.P.D., one of the many projects coming through the door with the three year deal they just signed with Dark Horse comics.
R.I.P.D. is the first of many Dark House comics to hit the big screen in the deal (not counting HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY, of course), and it goes a little something like this: a murdered cop is recruited to work in the Rest in Peace Dept., a ghost-busting police force (itself comprised of ghosts) that battles spirits unready to depart this world.
Kick ass! Director David Dobkin is on board (which we first told you about two years ago HERE) to bring the comic to the big screen. It’s like GHOSTBUSTERS, where the Ghostbusters are actually ghosts themselves! Sounds like a blast to me–can’t flipplin’ wait!
There’s a ton of Dark Horse comics out there that would awesome if brought to the big screen–no telling which other titles will be coming our way, but you know you can stick it here for more info and updates on any new announcement as we hear it!
Let’s hope for some lady cops in the mix on this force.
