Universal wants a new Riddick film, according to Vin Diesel

So earlier today Vin Diesel posted a very odd little video of himself singing and dancing to Beyonce on his Facebook page. We’re not here to talk about that (although, really, it’s something to behold – watch below); instead we’ll focus on the small portion of the video where Diesel thanks his legion of fans for making RIDDICK an indie hit. The film is currently #1 on the Blu-ray/DVD sales chart, understandably putting Diesel in a gleeful, dancy mood.

Apparently Universal is feeling the same good vibes, as Diesel reveals this at the end of his mini-rant:

I’m excited, and of course Universal says they already want to develop the next one!

We’ll have to wait a while to see if what Diesel says here is true; Universal only distributed RIDDICK, they had no hand in financing it, and when I spoke to David Twohy earlier in the month he was still unclear on what shape the next Riddick adventure would take.

But I’m not going to rain on Vin’s parade: Just keep doin’ what you’re doin’, man! Whatever that is… (He starts talking around the 3:10 mark.)
