In the past it was always a bummer when a cool sounding horror-themed show ended up getting the Network treatment since the properties seemed to end up toothless and lame. It’s a whole new world now, though, and while we still can’t catch a glimpse of Janet Jackson’s nipple without the national psyche exploding, fortunately violence and gore have become A-OK.
So when I hear that Eric McCormack’s Big Cattle Productions is developing a high-concept horror for UPN that mixes elements of SCREAM and 24, I must admit I’m kinda excited. It certainly sounds promising. The action will take place over the course of a week, as a camp reunion turns into a frightfest.
I’ll grant you that frightfest sounds more like a Halloween sorority fundraiser than a legit genre offering, but we’ll let that slide for the moment. For now, let’s all just revel in the fact that Network attempts at horror are finally turning into some semi-legit offerings!
