The found footage horror anthology series V/H/S/ was launched in 2012, with the sequels V/H/S/2 and V/H/S: Viral following in 2013 and 2014. There was a spin-off called SiREN in 2016, then the franchise went dormant for a few years… before being revived by the Shudder streaming service, which has had great success delivering a new V/H/S/ movie every year. There was V/H/S/94 in 2021, V/H/S/99 in 2022, V/H/S/85 in 2023 (with another spin-off, called Kids vs. Aliens, also dropping in 2023), V/H/S/Beyond in 2024, and V/H/S/Halloween last year. All of the recent movies have been produced in partnership with Studio71, and Spooky Pictures got involved with the last two films. Five months ago, it was announced that Spooky Pictures has teamed with Image Nation Abu Dhabi to acquire the rights to the franchise from Studio71 – and now we know what they’re going to do with it. Variety reports that the next installment in this series will be V/H/S: SCP, the first feature-length addition to the online collective fiction project the SCP (Special Containment Procedures) Foundation.
What is the SCP Foundation?
That’s the question I was asking when I saw this announcement, as I had never heard of the SCP Foundation before. Variety provides the information:
The SCP Foundation began in 2008 as a collaborative digital project and has grown into one of the largest fan-driven horror and scientific-fiction universes online. Prior adaptations include games, short films and web series.
V/H/S: SCP will be framed as “recovered field documentation,” or video evidence gathered, redacted and archived by the secretive organization. Standalone segments in the anthology will focus on different objects, entities or events under the containment-breach narrative.
The project is aiming for a 2027 theatrical release.

Roy Lee and Steven Schneider from Spooky Pictures are producing V/H/S: SCP with Josh Goldbloom and Michael Schreiber. Goldbloom previously produced V/H/S/94, V/H/S/99, and V/H/S/Halloween. Schreiber worked on V/H/S/94 and V/H/S/Beyond. Image Nation Studios CEO Ben Ross and Spooky Pictures’ Rami Yasin serve as executive producers.
