The Dog Stars

Ridley Scott is immensely proud of his upcoming film The Dog Stars, saying that he already thinks it’s his best movie. The MPA has just given a rating to the post-apocalyptic movie and it has been Rated R for strong violence, and language.

The plot description reads, “Set in a near future after an unnamed pandemic has decimated American society, the story follows Hig (Elordi), a civilian pilot living a lonely life on an abandoned Colorado airbase with his dog and a tough ex-marine (Brolin). The two men couldn’t be more mismatched but depend on each other to fend off roaming invaders. When a random transmission beams through the radio of his 1956 Cessna, the voice ignites a hope deep inside the pilot that a better life exists outside their tightly controlled perimeter. Risking everything, he flies past his point of no return and follows its static-broken trail.”

The Dog Stars is due out in August.

In the Grey

Next, Guy Ritchie’s upcoming film, which reunites him with Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza Gonzalez for an action comedy, has also received a rating. It’s been Rated R for violence, language and a sexual reference. One sexual reference helped determine the rating, huh? It must be a hell of a reference.

The official synopsis reads, “In The Grey follows a covert team of elite operatives who live in the global shadows, as comfortable wielding power and influence as they are automatic weapons and high explosives. When a ruthless despot steals a billion-dollar fortune, the team is sent to steal it back on what would be for anyone else a suicide mission. What begins as an impossible heist gets much worse, spiraling into an all-out war of strategy, deception and survival.”

In the Grey gets a wide release in cinemas on May 15.

Violent Night 2

Violent Night 2, which stars David Harbour and Jared Harris, has been given a predictably strong rating for a movie of its nature. It’s been Rated R for strong/bloody violence, and language.

A trailer was screened at CinemaCon, and it seems that Harris’ character is on the naughty list, with Santa arriving to beat the shit out of him. However, in a bit of a twist, Santa himself winds up on the naughty list because he’s forgotten the meaning of Christmas and loses his powers.

Violent Night 2 will be released on December 4.
