So not to long ago I told you all how Steve Niles’ graphic novel WAKE THE DEAD was next in line to get a big screen adaptation. 6 months later and we’ve got some early concept art for the film!
The gentlemen over at ShockTillYouDrop scored a look at the goods. You can get a glimpse of the deformed beauty above, just click through to check out the whole shot. WAKE THE DEAD is a retelling of the classic Frankenstein tale. Here’s a simple synopsis I dug up: College student Victor works to reverse death, not knowing what a can of worms he’s opening up. But he’ll find out… Simple enough.
Niles talked to STYD a bit about the project, informing everyone that the script is done and is looking pretty awesome! Jay Russell and Jim V. Hart penned the script with Russel pegged to direct. Here’s how Niles put it:
“I just read the screenplay, and I can say without a doubt that the screenwriters knocked it out of the park. The script captures the comic and goes way beyond. Honestly, I couldn’t be happier. It’s everything I imagined and more. Jay and Jim expanded the story beautifully, adding to both the haunting romance and the straightforward horror. I think fans are in for something special.”
Obviously he’s not going to say if the script sucks, but it’s still pretty exciting. So go ahead and scope out the badass concept art by clicking through above and keep it here for anymore WAKE THE DEAD updates.
