Upcoming disney movies: 2021 release dates in flux

Yesterday The Walt Disney Company invited fans all over the world to a very special Investor Day event, wherein the company shared an enormous amount of information about the future of all things Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, Disney musicals, and beyond. Now, with so many exciting projects on the horizon, Walt Disney Studios has had to update their motion picture release schedule, as a way of compensating for COVID-19 delays as well as their slate of newly-revealed films.

It was made perfectly clear yesterday that Disney plans on releasing many of their major films in theaters, so long as the pandemic doesn’t continue well into the new year. While we still have a long way to go in terms of recovery, COVID-19 vaccines are in the process of being distributed in select parts of the world, which is hopefully the beginning of coming to the end of such a long and treacherous road. If all goes according to plan, we could see theaters reopening in a matter of months, signaling the end of a grim period for the cinema-going experience.

Be that as it may, Disney gave Mouseketeers plenty of reasons to find room in their budgets for Disney+, or for international customers, Disney Star, a free tier within Disney Plus for subscribers in Europe, Canada, and New Zealand that will be fully integrated into Disney Plus. Disney Star is expected to launch in February and will provide international subscribers with access to content hailing from FX, 20th Century Fox, and Hulu. Disney Star will also include mature content for adult customers.

Here’s the official breakdown for Disney’s motion picture rollout:
