Want more titans clashing? How bout War of the Gods?

Pointless 3D conversion aside, I’m actually looking forward to CLASH OF THE TITANS. But for those of you out there who can’t get enough of that sort of thing can look forward to another similar type film titled WAR OF THE GODS. While it may, at face level, seem like something Aslyum might release to capitalize on the success of TITANS, it’s actually yet another big-budget action spectacle from Relativity Media and Universal Pictures.

Freida Pinto and Henry Cavill have signed on to star in the film for director Tarsem Singh with filming set to begin this April. Pinto will star as Phaedra, a priestess who joins up with Theseus (Cavill) to battle against the gods to save mankind. Sound familiar? In some degree of fairness, Relativity has been developing GODS since around the same time Warner Bros. began development on TITANS (they just put that project on the fasttrack and it wound up hitting theaters first).

Normally I might blow off a project like this but I’m willing to at least see what Tarsem can come up with. While it didn’t make much of an impact at the box-office, his last film THE FALL was a pleasant surprise and still one of the best Blu-ray experiences I’ve ever had.

So what do you think? Is the world big enough for both of these films? Should Universal just announce 3D now instead of waiting?
