Fox sent over a little message this morning with regards to the indie horror flick HORRORS OF WAR, which fellow zombie Ammon told you about here.
The news this morning is that Fox has announced exclusive sneak preview screenings for the flick scheduled throughout May and June in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and others (the film has already had screening in both Columbus and Cincinnati). The flick, which follows Lt. John Schmidt and his group of GIs as they come face to face with a horde of Nazi secret weapons (think WOLFENSTEIN but without the miniguns), was co-directed by John Whitney and Peter John Ross, and shot/produced entirely in Ohio.
“With the downward trend in big Hollywood movies, an alternative like our film appeals to audiences,” said producer/co-writer Philip R. Garrett, formerly of DreamWorks, who left a job working on Disney animated features to work in independent film in Central Ohio. “HORRORS OF WAR mixes genres and has action, horror, humor, and science fiction. This film is very different. It offers people something they can’t find anywhere else.” Well put by Garrett, since the last film I can recall that dealt with horror and war (specifically WWII) was 2001’s THE BUNKER As for DVD, North American DVD rights are currently in negotiation for the film, with several foreign DVD releases already set. The Japanese DVD release for the film will be on July 7th, 2006. Hollywood Wizard is the exclusive sales agent representing the film for theatrical, television, and home video, so keep your fingers crossed that the film finds a home on DVD soon.
